A little tour of my sewing room
We moved into our house almost thee years ago to the day and although this room has always been my sewing room (and office where I work from home), it wasn’t until I redecorated and bought some different furniture late last year that I think it finally become really functional! So here is a post showing you different angles and listing where I got the various pieces of furniture from :-)
I have two sewing tables in a corner, one which has my sewing machine and the other which has my cutting mat. These desks are in a L shape which makes it easy going between sewing and cutting. The desks are MITTBACK from Ikea. The one drawback is my cutting mat is 24” and the table is about an inch too short for the mat to fit properly so I usually have it sideways which isn’t ideal but does the job! The desks are propped up high so I can stand or sit on the stool (Fenton and Fenton but they don’t sell them anymore!) I actually quite like standing to sew- I find I can sew for hours without getting stiff and sore which I sometimes get after sitting for so long!
Here’s another angle with Duffy as the star! The floor cushion uses Penelope Handmade’s Meadowlark quilt pattern and I have a tutorial you can find here to turn any quilt into a floor cushion/ dog bed :-). The two quilts on the quilt ladder (made by my Brother in law out of cheap cedar from Bunnings are Cottontails by Liza Handmade and Madeline by Penelope Handmade .
This is my working from home corner! The rug is from Pillowtalk and the sewing box is from a little vintage store in the Southern Highlands- I covered it in contact paper that i got from Bunnings! The desk is a manual stand up desk from Ikea and the chair is from Koala (although I don’t think they sell it anymore which is such a shame as I really rate it- I’m sitting on it as I type this!)
The hanging plant does not accurately represent my. gardening skills as shortly after this photo was taken, I went away for a week and when I came back, it hadn’t done too well- it’s finally coming back again now but definitely doesn’t look as good as this! (the outside plants are probably more representative haha)
The little green trolley is JUTTERSBO from Ikea. my sewing machine is a Bernina QE770 (you can read my thoughts on this here).
And I think that’s everything! Let me know if you have any questions and I hope you enjoyed this little tour of my sewing room :-)
(Not pictured, my messy cupboards holding a very disorganised stash of fabric haha)
